Arrival & Team Bonding in Uttarkashi
The journey begins with arrival in Uttarkashi, where participants check into the nature resort or campsite and enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the riverside. An evening bonfire with light music creates the perfect opportunity for team bonding before the trekking expedition begins.
Trek Commencement & Wilderness Camping
The adventure continues with a scenic drive to Kalyani, the starting point of the trek. From here, students trek through the picturesque villages of Agoda and Bhewra, passing dense forests of oak, pine, rhododendron, and deodar while learning about the region's rich biodiversity and mountain ecosystem. Camps are set up amidst nature, allowing participants to gain practical exposure to outdoor living, camping techniques, self-cooking, survival skills, and responsible trekking practices.
Alpine Ecology at Dodital Lake
As the trek progresses, the trail leads through Majhi before reaching the pristine Dodital Lake, one of Uttarakhand's most beautiful high-altitude freshwater lakes. Surrounded by dense forests and renowned for its Himalayan Golden Trout, Dodital offers students an excellent opportunity to study alpine ecology, freshwater ecosystems, and the importance of conserving fragile mountain environments. Throughout the journey, activities such as trail cleaning and tree plantation encourage environmental responsibility and help students understand the significance of reducing carbon footprints.
Summit to Darwa Top (4,150m)
One of the highlights of the expedition is the trek to Darwa Top, situated at an altitude of approximately 4,150 metres (13,300 feet). The climb rewards participants with spectacular panoramic views of the Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag, and Gangotri mountain ranges. This section of the trek promotes endurance, confidence, leadership, and teamwork while providing a firsthand understanding of Himalayan geography and high-altitude ecosystems.
Retracking & Reflection
After completing the summit experience, the group retraces the trail back to Dodital and continues towards Kalyani before driving to Uttarkashi.
